Food and Wine at The Falcon

We know from past years that many of our members go on holiday in September, so our numbers are expected to be lower than other months of the year. This means that it’s not a good month to ask a speaker to travel to present to us. It’s also not viable to use The Raven as the lower number won’t cover our fixed venue costs and we will lose money.
So we are going to do something a little different! We’ll be meeting at The Falcon pub in Rotherwick, just a couple of miles up the road from Hook. We will enjoy a three course meal (fixed menu, with a veggie option) and we will be serving a selection of excellent wines to accompany your meal. This will be a casual and relaxed evening – no need to dress up, just come as you are. The emphasis is on a fun evening of food, wine and friends. If you usually come on your own, please consider bringing a friend or partner.
The wines will all come from Keith’s cellar. Many of the wines have been languishing in temperature controlled conditions for years, maturing nicely and waiting for just an occasion like this! So expect a bubbly on arrival, some decent whites and some excellent mature reds. The wines will be poured tasting style, like we do at The Raven. Keith will be giving the briefest of introductions to the wines, the main thing is for you to be able to chat whilst enjoying the food and wines. Over the evening, you can expect to drink about the same amount of wine as we pour on a usual tasting night.
It’s the first time in many years that we’ve offered a casual, relaxed evening of food and wine. We very much hope you will join us – I can promise some excellent wines for you to enjoy!
Booking is now open to members and guests. Members & Guests £37.50 to include a 3 course meal and wines.
Pre-booking and payment is essential. We ask you to book and pay as soon as possible, so we can get a feel for numbers attending and keep The Falcon informed. Bookings must close by Saturday 31st August. We encourage you to make your payment by electronic transfer.

Here is the menu for our evening:
Starter: Smoked haddock croquettes, lemon & honey mayonnaise
Main: Parma ham wrapped Chicken stuffed with halloumi, sweet potato fries & Mediterranean vegetables
Dessert: Toffee apple pie & ice cream
We will assume that you wish to have the menu above unless you tell us you want the veggie starter and/or veggie main options below.
Veggie starter option: Avocado, babay tomatoes, blueberries, broad beans and dressing
Veggie menu option: Barkham blue cheese and caramelised onion tart
